Shika Shika Collective is proud to present “De aquí hasta aquí”, the debut album by percussionist and producer Federico Estévez.
You may know Fede as the drummer and percussionist for Chancha Vía Circuito´s live band, having made a reputation around the world for his rhythmic virtuosity and trademark broken beats.
Following “Hologramas” the captivating opening track on Shika Shika’s “Mare Insularum” compilation, “De aquí hasta aquí” is Fede’s first full-length release. On it he shares with us his complex, poly-rhythmic universe through nine tracks uniting his own South American origins, with African rhythms and featuring collaborations with Rodrigo Gallardo, Pablo Paz, Wen, Manu Quintans, Klik & Frik and Chancha vía Circuito.
In the words of Pedro Canale a.k.a. Chancha vía Circuito:
“Federico Estévez is one of Buenos Aires' most versatile musicians - at once an incredible producer and formidable percussionist. Restless by nature, Federico is constantly experimenting with rhythms. He is also a prolific creator, equally at home making original percussive lines or beautiful melodies.
Fede’s creative process often starts with him playing a rhythm out on the kitchen table, on a desk or on chairs. These ideas begin here but then find their way onto pads, drum kits, or acoustic and electronic percussion before ending up preserved on a recording.
Thanks to his musical curiosity, Fede always find himself surrounded by musicians from totally different universes - it is hard to find a rhythm or genre that does not ignite his curiosity.
After many years playing with different artists at shows around the world, Fede has finally brought together his own ideas and a group of musical friends to give the world “De aqui hasta aqui”, his debut full-length album.
On it we can clearly hear the evolution of Fede’s sound as well as the legacy of his own musical journey and the importance to share this creative process with many of his most beloved friends.
“De aqui hasta aqui” reveals, without a doubt, the beauty of these encounters and takes us to a universe of new timbres and rhythms where Federico is king. These are songs that paint a landscape of magical realism and give us a glimpse into the mystery hidden in the depths of those mesmerising rhythms”

Exemplary for the Shika Shika collective, a harmonious collaboration between two great artists. With el Buho's wholeness of the composition and Barrio Lindo's knack for finding the edge of tension, both seem strengthened by each other. It sits very comfortably in a growing lineage of traditional American IDM sohakun

El Buho's spacious soundscapes create scenic places for contemplative music listening. Sounds that take you to very peaceful lush worlds. Music to play both in the background to generate ambient but also to listen to in a meditative way and if you're feeling it, to dance to as well. Wannabes Music Club

All time album for me, very special and I dont even speak a lick of spanish. All the songs are just great and tell their own story in your own head space. Turned me on to a whole new genre of music. Favorite is the song that introduced me to El Buho, a fun, wild ride of a song David K
